"That was a feeling of all the hard work that was put in over the last 3 years had finally paid off. I find myself everyday working my weaknesses to become the best athlete I can be to be ready for the CHALLENGES AHEAD!"
About Kyle: I started CrossFit about 3 years ago. I had a buddy that was doing CrossFit at a Box in Sarnia and it was "Bring a Friend Week" so he encouraged me to come try it out. There were people doing some pretty crazy stuff and even though a part of me was thinking what the hell am I getting myself into, the other part of me said give it a chance. Sure enough after my class was done, I was lying on my back looking up at the ceiling thinking to myself I never want to do FRAN again. I could not believe that people did this for fun, but a couple days went by and I realize I had struck GOLD.
CrossFit then became a huge part of my life. After my athletic career in Tennis was over I felt like there was just something missing and then all things would change; CrossFit became my new sport, I started to get into competing after about 1 year of doing CrossFit. It was one of the best experiences I ever had largely due to the incredible atmosphere and the Crossfit community was so humble and supportive. It was a sport like no other. Since then, I have spent the last 2 years competing and striving to become the best I can be with the end goal of making it to the Regionals. When the 2014 CrossFit Open came around I knew this was going to be a tough year, at the end of the 5 week Competition I found myself sitting in the Top 20 and had punched a ticket to my very FIRST CROSSFIT REGIONALS. That was a feeling of all the hard work that was put in over the last 3 years had finally paid off. I find myself everyday working my weaknesses to become the best athlete I can be to be ready for the CHALLENGES AHEAD!
Aside from competing I am also the co-owner/ Head Coach of MapleCity CrossFit in Chatham and this is where the true passion lies. When I started to learn more and more as a coach and when starting MapleCity CrossFit I knew that CrossFit was so much more than competing, Crossfit is about the community and its positive lifestyle. We get to see each and everyday people of all levels walk into our box and take part in not just a workout but be part of a family that is working towards health and wellness. Its rewarding to help and see so many people reach goals and change their life around as they become more confident in themselves. It is truly great to see a positive change in so many people and I take pride in being able to be a part of something so great. This is why CrossFit has not only become a sport but also a passion, lifestyle and a career.
